Out a few weeks ago via Relapse, the debut long playing platter from Windhand entitled ‘soma’ promised doom, death and decay in certain quarters of the press and while that might generally be the case on the slavering stoned groove behemoth from this Richmond based quintet we did manage to prize a moment of blissfulness courtesy of ‘evergreen’. there are moments on this wherein it strays ever so closely into the aural orbit of Mountains ‘Nantucket sleigh ride’ – no bad thing there albeit here as though rephrased in the psych folk splendour of a demurring Damon and Naomi with Ghost found shimmying up to Preterite.
