I don’t mind admitting that we here are totally smitten with this for if the new Essex Green is the song of summer then surely this is its sultry bedfellow ripe for evenings blissfully basking beneath the smoulder of sun fired blood red skies. Described in passing by their label folk, incidentally Mexican Summer, as ‘a mutant offspring of diverse stylings, unlikely convergences, unfixed constellations’ this is Arp with a track called ‘Fluorescences’ – a seafaring slice of south seas exotica who chill tipped laid back wooziness had us imagining some castaway gathering of Emperor Penguin and Superimposers types deliriously drifting to Monsterism island whilst cobbling out a most magically smoking and bliss bathed mosaic spotted with distant nods to ‘Albatross’.
