Arriving into listening space the first day of September as a self-released cassette that’s strictly limited to a 50 only pressing, looms ‘come to your senses old devil’ a new gathering of six suites by Alex Monk. Alas no sound links on this one just yet, safe to say a revisit in full will be occurring though for now, we’ve found ourselves somewhat smitten by ‘Illud Tempus’ which I suspect ought rightly to be on the immediate listening radar of all those much adoring of both John Fahey and Jack Rose as well as the ridiculously gifted, Scott William Urquhart. Hazed in a twilight fog, this deeply alluring primitive visitation silently ghosts the wilds much like some snaking dry desert drawn trade wind. The artistry impeccably weaved from a deft finger picking craft upon a parched palette, shimmers in all its nature sighed intricacy to reveal a fulsomely lush landscape schooled in the forgotten ways of the old.
