Well I say new, its reworked old school AMT put through its paces and re-forged anew and finds them reigniting a long held mutual respect between both band and label, returning after a 6 year absence (2012’s ‘IAO Chant From The Melting Paraiso Underground Freak Out’) with ‘reverse of rebirth in universe’. From that stone fried serving of four bearded behemoths, ‘dark star blues’ has been sent ahead on scouting duties. A mystic woozy dropped from the high table of psychedelia’s ancient altar, both mind warping and snake charming, it coils and shifts, shimmering to an old mantra that’s cut, carved and crafted from nature’s own elements, a spirit walker treading a path endlessly walked through the desert dry mists of time. Its shape shifting persona fused in cosmica and flower power, seductively slow coils tripping and trance toned to steadily unfurl in both stature and focus, the spell broken at the 6.46 point whereupon everything fractures, fries and dissolves amid a scorching cacophony of head frazzled freak out. Get the CD and you’ll be treated to a 16 minute take on Gong’s ‘flying teapot’ which I must admit the prospect of hearing for ourselves has had us in a state of delirious distraction.
